As you can see I brought out the elephant skirt again! I just absolutely love it. The weather was perfect for it.
Over the weekend I had my cousin’s baby shower that was at the Liberty House in Jersey City, NJ. It sits right off the water and has amazing views of the city. Unfortunately, the day was a little cloudy but the pictures still picture worthy. My cousins had their wedding here in October and the views at night are just beautiful. I love being on the opposite of the river from the city and seeing it all lit up. There’s just something beautiful about the sight.
As you can see I brought out the elephant skirt again! I just absolutely love it. The weather was perfect for it. Remember I had mentioned in my original post that I had worn the outfit originally on Christmas, without tights? Well here it is! The exact same out just with different jewelry. : ) I can’t get enough of this shirt. There’s just something about a black shirt with this skirt that really makes the shine in the elephants pop.
I bought these shoes last year; when I saw them on Sole Society I immediately fell in love with them. They are similar to the Valentino Rockstuds that I am just dying to have (I mean who isn’t really?!?!) so they were an obvious purchase. I wore them to school for the first time on a Professional Development day thinking that I wouldn’t be walking around that much so it was the perfect way to break them in. WRONG! I ended walking so much that day and by the end of it I could barely walk. I was so disappointed because I loved the shoes.
Needless to say, I left these bad boys in my closet until this past Christmas. I decided to put them on with this skirt and give it a try figuring if I was in a lot of pain I could just go back upstairs and change my shoes (we always have Christmas at my parents house). I was able to last the entire day in them. Now mind you, I don’t sit around on Christmas: I’m helping setting the table, bringing food out, clearing the table after each course, cleaning up, etc. I was so happy by the end of the day that these shoes were not hurting my feet.
So I have been slowly reintroducing them into my wardrobe. When I wore them at the baby shower, I was on my feet once again, helping my cousin open her gifts. Not once did my feet hurt. I believe it’s safe to say that these shoes will be back in my rotation. The next test, a full school day.
I purposely paired this outfit with a statement necklace with minimal jewelry. I wanted the focus to be the skirt with another option, the necklace. I think it gives the outfit a classy, put together look. The skirt offers just the right amount of pattern to not be overwhelming for an out. I’m thinking for the spring, I will pair the skirt with either creams or whites. What do you guys think?
Can you tell we are sisters?
Thanks for stopping by!
