How is it that a week ago today I was in my favorite city in Europe?! Today I’m sharing one of my favorite rompers that I brought with me to wear around the Vatican.
Our first full day in Rome was spent at the Vatican. Lauren and I took a tour of the Vatican Museum, saw St. Peter’s Basilica, and climbed to the top of the dome. All of these pictures from my camera were lost! The ones you see here are from my iPhone; the picture of Lauren and I is from her phone that she sent me. I was beyond upset that I lost the pictures on my camera but thankfully this was not my first visit to the Vatican so I have pictures from previous visits to remember the splendor of the place.
The picture above and below are shots of two of my favorite spots in the Vatican. The above picture is from the top of the dome of the basilica and gives you a stunning view of the piazza, Castel Sant’Angelo in the back, and the Tiber River. The picture below is from the part of the museum known as the Hall of Maps. Maps were painted in the fifteenth century of the various regions of Italy and surrounding countries. The maps are 99% accurate which is amazing to me because these were done without the use of any of the technology we are used to today. The frescoes on the ceiling are just as stunning; you walk through the hallway just mesmerized.
Once you complete the hall of maps, you are supposed to enter the Sistine Chapel; however, on this day we had to take an alternate route due to the sheer volume of people visiting on this particular day.
After wandering around the Vatican streets, Lauren and I walked down to Castel Sant’Angelo. Right next to there was an outdoor flea market that we walked through. There is something about Sant’Angelo that just draws me to it. I especially love seeing it lit up at night.
The day was hot and this romper that I had bought from the Loft last year was the perfect wardrobe choice. (Side note: I did have to bring a scarf to cover my shoulders so I could go into the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.) As I’ve mentioned multiple times, I sweat, a lot, so I needed outfits that were going to be light and airy. The fact that the romper had a somewhat of an open back was a nice touch as well to the outfit. I wore it on another scorching day last year here.
Does anyone else have any rompers that they love? This one is definitely one of mine.
As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great Monday!
